CVAA is accepting applications for a Patient Liaison on the CVAA Board of Directors!

CVAA Mission Statement: CVAA will advocate for safe, quality care across the healthcare continuum by providing leadership and empowering its members and the broader healthcare community to engage in education, partnerships, knowledge and research in vascular access and infusion therapy for optimal patient outcomes.

What is a Patient Liaison?

The Patient Liaison is a non-voting, advisory position appointed by the CVAA Board of Directors. The position is designated for a patient in the Canadian health care system. The Patient Liaison will advocate to the Board of Directors, on behalf of fellow patients, and will provide the Board of Directors with a patient perspective.

Why Become a CVAA Patient Liaison?

  • Be an active contributor to improving patient experience in vascular access and/or infusion therapy
  • Learn about best practices and clinical decision making in the field
  • Free CVAA membership during term
     

Qualifications:

  • Person receiving long term infusion therapy and/or intermittent IV infusion requiring use of a vascular access device in the Canadian health care system
  • Supports the mission of CVAA
  • Interest in patient advocacy
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn about vascular access and/or infusion therapy procedures, technologies, and challenges
     

Responsibilities:

  • Bring up concerns relating to patient care in vascular access and/or infusion therapy
  • Provide feedback on CVAA projects from a patient perspective
  • Represent patient perspective with a focus on quality care and patient safety in vascular access and/or infusion therapy
  • Help CVAA ensure that our initiatives align with improving patient experiences and outcomes

A Patient Liaison shall serve a two (2) year term of office and there is the possibility to extend the term by one (1) additional year.  Attendance is requested quarterly at Board meetings via video conference and in an ad-hoc capacity for projects, as required.
 

Service on the CVAA Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to duties, if incurred.

Letters of interest are due by December 2, 2024 at 4:00pm ET by email to Melissa Stark at cvaa@cvaa.info. Follow up calls will be held with short listed candidates and the Patient Liaison position will be appointed by the Board of Directors in December 2024.
