Peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs) are the most common invasive device used in health care settings—but there is little research on the factors that may influence inequity. The Infusion Nurses Society is part of a team of diverse, multidisciplinary health care professionals and patients with the Association for Vascular Access who have come together to start to uncover the inequities in IV access care. This group has created the Vascular Access Equity Patient Survey to study whether skin tone, body size, chronic illness, and other factors affect experiences with PIVC insertion. We hope that we can eventually make meaningful change in PIVC access and delivery of care. Anyone in the United States and Canada who has had a PIVC placed or cares for an individual (parent/guardian/caregiver) that has had a PIVC may complete this survey. It only takes 10 minutes.
Please share our survey with your friends, family, and colleagues.
