In our New Member Spotlight feature, we introduce you to some of the newest members to join CVAA. Meet Tracy, member of the Winnipeg CVAA Chapter Executive from Winnipeg, MB!

Where are you located in Canada? I am a Nurse Educator at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have worked at the Grace Hospital for the last 21 years. I started at the Grace Hospital as a volunteer, completed my Diploma program at the school of Nursing and obtained my Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Manitoba.

Why did you join CVAA? I joined CVAA last year and attended the National Conference in Toronto. I am responsible for developing CVAD Policies for my site and teaching CVAD and IV Insertion in Hospital Orientation, to newly hired staff. 

What features of membership are you looking forward to utilizing? I am most interested in the evidence that supports best practice and working collectively to advance CVAD practices at our sites.

Why are you passionate about vascular access/infusion therapy?  I am passionate about patient safety and supporting nurses in developing skills that promote best practice.

What are you most looking forward to this summer (personal life)? I am looking forward to hiking and camping in Ontario with my kids this summer
