CVAA is working to develop national comprehensive clinical practice standards and guidelines and accompanying implementation tools.
Purpose: CVAA membership has indicated by survey that national practice guidelines are a priority and the Board of Directors have pledged to develop guidelines based on existing guidelines and consensus recommendations. The project will provide reference and tools for best practice for clinicians involved in vascular access and infusion therapy. They will be the major practice publications developed, produced and disseminated by CVAA.
The guideline development will adhere to the ADAPTE methodology. The document would include a summary of evidence, consensus based practice recommendations and implementation tools to support application of recommendations in Canadian practice.
The Guideline Development Group (GDG) is currently working on the CVAA Guidelines. Watch for more updates.
CVAA Member Reviewers needed!
We are seeking valuable CVAA member expertise to review the draft guidelines and participate in the CVAA Member Internal Review process that will take place this summer.
We are looking for a limited number of pan-Canadian CVAA members from a variety of specialties to review the guidelines. We will ask you to review the guidelines to determine the overall tone, language, and clarity. We are not requiring you to comment or suggest revisions for each specific recommendation, but instead offer an overview of the quality of the guidelines or suggested improvements or corrections if applicable. We will provide an online survey to complete regarding the guidelines with space for general comments.
We anticipate the time to review and comment on the guidelines may take up to 4-6 hours. We plan to send out the guidelines for review by the end of June 2018 and will request review and survey completion by August 15.
If you are interested and available during the outlined time frame, please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday June 27, 2018 with the following information:
- Full name and credentials - Email address
- Current role/position - Current employer/institution
- Area of expertise, if applicable
