Leadership, Committee and/or Group Experience:

I have been involved in many leadership positions both professionally and personally including 3 years as an industry rep on the CVAA Board and multiple leadership positions within 3M Health Care. I am responsible for several programs within 3M including the orientation and development of new sales reps. On a personal level, I have led 12 medical mission teams into remote regions of the Amazon River Basin and this requires extreme leadership and communication skills in choosing, financing, developing and implementing the team functions to execute medical clinics in Shawi villages along the rivers of the Amazon Jungle. I have led similar teams to S. Africa and Swaziland.

What do you hope to contribute by being a member of the CVAA Board of Directors?
I have been an active, certified member of CINA/CVAA for over 25 years and served on the CVAA Board during the first 3 years of the Industry Rep position. It was an exciting time of change in both our name and our bylaws. We are entering another exciting era with the introduction of the new Canadian Best Practice Guidelines, and the launch of the new strategic plan that will strengthen CVAA as a national voice for infusion therapy. My passion is to be an advocate for infusion therapy and I have had the privilege of working with many of our members across the country as an educator / speaker at both local chapters and national conferences. The more we can empower our members to strive for excellence, the stronger our voice will become. It would be my privilege to serve the membership as the Industry Rep.

Leadership, Committee and/or Group Experience

Being a Clinical Education Manager with Teleflex has allowed me to develop my communication and leadership skills tremendously. I work as part of a very diverse team, which has given me the opportunity to adapt and enjoy working with different personalities and styles. My role also requires that I partner with clinicians in various environments across the country, and work with them as a team to improve practice and patient outcome.

What do you hope to contribute by being a member of the CVAA Board of Directors?

As a nurse, I have always been passionate about improving patient outcome through advocacy and evidence based practices, both in the hospital and the corporate setting. I have also always strived to advance and promote clinician’s skills, roles and responsibilities; by providing education and encouraging clinicians’ empowerment. Having a clinical role at the national level with Teleflex allows me to have a global perspective of what CVAA members’ interests and needs are across the country. Over the past two years I have grown to have a very profound interest and enthusiasm towards vascular access and I take its development in Canada at heart. I hope to provide insight on how industry can better support clinicians in their practice. As a proud CVAA member myself, I would be honoured to contribute my passion and enthusiasm in the role of an industry representative for the board of directors. Thank you for your consideration.
